Joseph C. Noto, a Bergen county divorce lawyer, was a moderator at the North Jersey Collaborative Law Group brown bag where Bob Traitz, a Certified Financial Planner in Wyckoff NJ, explained to the collaborative divorce lawyers, how children can qualify for scholarships and financial aid for married and divorced parents. He gave little known ways of qualifying for money no matter your income level. Mr. Traitz gave examples of strategies utilizing Department of Education and IRS regulations for paying college tuition. He explained the importance of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, (FAFSA), AND WHAT IT CAN MEAN FOR STUDENTS. Also, he addressed the current “Tax Free” treatment of College Savings Plan. Joseph Noto, also a collaborative divorce lawyer, learned what “to do” and “not do” when doing a collaborative divorce as it relates to the issue of parents’ contributions toward their children’s college education.
